Birthday week whoooop!

Written by admin on August 30th, 2010

Dear Family,
Well, it looks like my predictions from last week could be correct but there´s still hope ( havent gotten the package but it´ll come sooner or later, also we´re figuring out the credit card thing, Elder Papenfuss said you sound like a really nice lady mom haha, he´s a really good guy). But I just wanna thank everyone for the birthday wishes they were really appreciated. Idk if yall know Mom and Dad but yall both sent me versions of what people told me on facebook but thanks I guess some people still know that I haven´t actually fallen off of the face of the Earth.  Thanks for the video I was surprised I was able to watch it but it was really great! It was funny to see the Elders over at the house to and Josh and his Michael Scott comments. You guys still havent perfected the blue steel though haha. Anyways, on my birthday President and Hermana Northcutt called and wished me a happy birthday and said they´re real proud of me and stuff like that and told Elder Hale he had to sing to me because no one else had that day still. O yeah before I forget, my comp is from Fresno and he wasn´t sure if he knew Andrew´s Fiance n stuff, his name is Austin Hale. Btw, Josh never told me his unique experience so you´ll have to update me.
Anyways, this last week was quite an adventure, I saw a dog get run over by chasing a car, I guess thats a lesson in itself. But really, I got some pretty sad news it was rough and I was the one to receive it, Nilda our super hero investigator who was  just about to be baptized called us and told us she wont be able to continue with us, her grandpa just died and she´s taking it really hard. Its sad too because she´s doing the exact opposite of what she should do. But she said maybe later on. Elder Hale and I decided we are going to write her a card with some words of encouragement and love. Other than that everything was good, we had a lot of good lessons and this one mother who´s family is a recent convert, her name is Susanna, we committed her to praying and asking her husband about getting married and he said yes! Which was a great surprise, I guess you gotta know the guy, but she is way awesome. A nice birthday present I had, we almost didnt have any investigators at church and then we had some show up at the end and that was exciting, Im pretty sure we´re gonna have some baptisms this transfer and thats good. Daiana, the girl that received her answer last week didnt go to church because she´s so timid and she´ll only go if her older sister goes and her sister isnt so excited about goin to church anymore for various reasons. Also we went out to visit the Chapa family, the one with like 50 kids, it was like a 3 hour adventure, everything was crazy this weekend because Termas has the race track and we were way far out and we actually had to walk by it and it was intense. But, im running out of time and I gotta go. Thanks so much for the little videos, its alright it didnt make me trunky, they were really entertaining! I love you guys and thanks for all of your prayers and love and support!

one more transfer in the Termas!!

Written by admin on August 25th, 2010

Dear Family,
This week was solid and if you haven´t noticed from the title of the letter I´ll be staying another transfer in Las Termas! This week was a lil more eventful and exciting so hopefully I´ll be able to intrigue you guys this week. This week started out with a little fun experience. In Las Termas there is a bridge over a river and the other side is called Villa Beaneario and we were over there and we had to take a trucho remis (basically illegal/fake taxi) and my comp left his agenda in the remis. It was kinda sad because losing an agenda is pretty devastating it has all of your important contacts citas etc. and so you can imagine how needed it is. Well the next day we were walking along and I look to my right (Termas is really big) and there was the remis and he slammed on his breaks and an arm sticks out the window with my comps agenda in hand. It was a cool little experience. After I said to him its amazing how much Heavenly Father loves us even to answer the smallest of prayers.

This was kinda funny, it wasn´t this week but we were knocking doors and we knocked this door and this pretty cheto looking guy in a suit comes out and smiles and I contacted him and then pretty soon I found out that we just knocked the door to the Jehovah´s Witness church from the back door, thats why we didnt realize. He told us he has “details about our organization” and invited us in (yeah right dude)… but we just told him we gotta keep going.

We were at Monica and Wanda´s (recent converts) house and I picked up their cat and it whipped around and slightly scratched my face but its not too noticeable. We´re gonna try and teach Monica´s brother. He was married and divorced in like 2 months cuz the girl just married him and took his stuff and divorced him and wont give back his stuff. Its kinda crazy but I really think we´ll be able to help them out. They just got their new member package and the have Teachings of the Prophets: Spencer W Kimball and I was able to find a good chapter about forgiveness. Im almost done with The Miracle of Forgiveness I´ll be finishing it this week it is such a good book I love it and highly recommend it.

Our other investigator, her name is Diana and she is really awesome but really timid and we have been teaching her family but the rest of her family progression wise isn´t as far along as she is because they still aren´t sure they want to obey the law of Chastity, kinda sad but we´re still working with em. Anyways, we dropped by and asked if she has been able to read and pray and she said yeah… and we asked her how she felt and told us “weird” and that was one of the best answers I´ve ever gotten from anyone to hear them say weird rather than just good because we could tell that she really got an answer by the way she said it, it was a cool experience. She didnt go to church though but we´ll see what happens. Also we´ll have to delay Nilda´s baptism one more week because she wasn´t at church because her grandpa died. Neither was Alfredo the really cool guy, apparently he went to Santiago to visit his daughter but I think he´ll get baptized eventually, he says when we teach he feels a “good energy.”

O yeah there was also an Open Chapel activity organized by the missionaries and I was gonna include some pictures but my USB doesn´t fit in the computer. Im not gonna beat around the bush it was pretty much a flop. We had missionaries teach a lil somethin in each room and we taught how the Gospel blesses families. I guess if one person gets baptized out of it, it´ll be a success. All in all it wasn´t BAD like I had fun but missionary work wise it was mas o menus. O yeah I haven´t gotten the package yet, with the Argentine mail system I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if someone is celebrating my birthday without me. Anyways, I hope all is well and everyone is being excellent to each other. Thank you for your prayers, you cant pray too much :) I love you guys!

Love,
Elder Singer

PS Josh you look like one of the Bay City Rollers.

Dear Family,

Well this week was alright, nothing super exciting but nothing super unexciting either. I was really glad to hear that Tyler is already home, that sure went by fast. I hope he got my letter, I sent it to the wrong mission in Ecuador and didn’t realize until later…. hopefully they did the math and sent it to the other mission.. Josh, your wasting your money man you gotta save like crazy right now. I got a lil letter from Grandma and it sounds like she´s doing good too. But yeah this week we found a whole bunch of new investigators. We didnt have any investigators at church and that kinda stunk but I still think we´ll be having another baptism this week I hope. Also we had our interview with the President and that was cool. Our zone is improving a lot and we´re going to have an open house this week so we´ll see how that goes. My comp and I are in charge of teaching how the Gospel blesses families focused around the commandments. Today the rest of our zone went to a museum but we´re kinda in no mans land in the Termas and we went to a member and he taught us some about playing the guitar folklore style it was pretty cool but I cant say i learned how to do it haha. We did some way hardcore cleaning too I dont think the stove has been touched cleaning wise in like a year and now its white! You may have seen some of it in the burnt egg episode from last week. My talk went well by the way. I based it on Elder Uchtdorf´s talk, You are my hands and I ended up taking up all the time I had no idea it was really funny cuz usually whenever I gave talks before the mission they were too short well at least I felt like they were but my talk ended up being 25 minutes long i had no idea I was way nervous though but I got some nice compliments. I felt a lil bad cuz my comp was suposed to speak too but it looks like he´ll just be speaking next week. Well sorry for the kinda blah-ish letter but im doin good just so yall know :) Thanks for the prayers and congrats to Tasha on the baptism!

Dear Family,
Well this was quite a week let me tell you! Thanks for the letters everyone sounds like yall are great, i dont know if you noticed Mom but in your letter you said Grandma seems to be taking the right steps… haha pun. But really glad she´s doin alright! But yeah this week was quite the adventure we´ll just say that… For some reason all the dogs were way after us and they kept tryin to get us and my comp got bit on the leg a lil bit and I was almost bitten too and I hit one with a rock. Argentine dogs are born with the instinct to run when man uses his apposable thumbs to bend down and pick up a rock. Its really entertaining. Anyways, I went on an exchange with Elder Carrari and that was really fun. He´s a really good people person and a good missionary. After using the pot I was cleaning myself with the vide and suddenly it went really really hot and I think it scalded my tail a bit but it was really funny cuz i came out and Elder Carrari did an imitation of me screaming in English in pain haha. O yeah I got yall´s letter from the reunion that was really nice of yall I felt really blessed. I laughed really hard at what Uncle Brent said, sombody said the reunion wasn´t the same without me and Uncle Brent put an arrow and said no it wasn´t, it was the same. haha but he said it would´ve been better if i was there. Johnny Callister wrote me too about his adventure to the Philippines! O yeah and on the exchanges they did the baptismal interviews and Monica and Wanda passed and we had their baptisms on Saturday! Ill tell yall about it in a bit. Anyways, we found some decent news too, some lady we found told us that she prays all the time to find the true church and she even asked us why there aren´t prophets and apostles and we able to answer all her questions it was pretty cool but she kinda had some crazy stories about a demon dog zombie (thats what she told us) appeared to her. Another lady was tellin us that her Mom appeared to her and that her mom said to her that Christ lives. Interesting stuff happened. THEN when we had weekly planning my comp put his egg in boiling water and we closed the door to our room and got to planning. A lil while later we smelled a burning smell and I didnt really think about it but then about 30 minutes later after that I ran out of the apt and the whole apt was full of smoke! See attached pic. It was pretty funny but the apt smelled pretty bad for a couple of days. I just attached a pic of the burnt egg and Elder Hale and in the other Email there´s my other pics. All day i was singin “Elder Hale started the fire!!!” Then we had our baptisms the next day and that went really well and I got to baptize them both it was so cool! They seemed so happy afterwards it was great I want to do a musical number with my comp in the next one. Monica and Wanda had been Investigators like longer than ive been in Argentina so long long time. The next day in the principles of the Gospel class one of em said the prayer and it was so special to hear them say “we´re grateful to be in thy Church”! They sure have come a long way. It looks like Nilda is going to be baptized a lil later on, but she´s still doing great, probably on the 21st I think. One other investigator who´s name is Alfredo is really good I think I told yall about him but when we went over there he was already sitting outside waiting for us and he basically taught us the whole plan of Salvation before we had a chance to teach it. He´s a pretty in tune guy, he tells us he feels some sort of “energy” when we talk to him, we decided that he´s talking about the Spirit. Idk why but he told us he was gonna go to church but he wasnt there on Sunday. O yeah, idk what my comp ate but on Saturday night til morning my comp was barfing all night it was pretty gross and I gave him a blessing in the middle of the night. Well, i gotta go now, im speakin in church next Sunday so say a lil prayer for me :) Love you guys and I hope all is well and that your reading your scriptures every day.
Love,
Elder Singer

PS Yeah i gave up on the card thing mom
PPS Dad I really enjoyed emailing you that couple of times last week and sorry bout your lil cross country adventure

Dear Family,
Happy Birthday Megan! you look like a babe!  Im gonna try and send yall somethin for the kids in the fam it might be a bit tough.
This week was pretty good, it was nice to hear from you guys this week. Im really tired right now, in spanish i would say im hecho percho, its basically like wiped out n sore. We had a little zone activity today and that was fun. We played kickball and it ended up being Latinos vs. Gringos and i felt kinda bad for them cuz they never quite caught on with some of the rules and they were kinda mad so we played soccer after and the whooped us haha. i havent ran so much in a while so… yeah. It was fun though, i took some decent pictures. Anyways, this week kinda had its ups and downs, we worked really hard and completed with all of our goals and we worked really hard to get lots of the members involved. If yall remember walter and luicina they´re the couple we´ve been trying to help out and they´re not doing too good, we went and woke them up and everything but they didnt come to church. When we went by their house they were fighting and we tried to help them settle it, it was hard though they were acting like little kids. Other than that we´re doing really good, the really big family that we found a lil bit ago came to church and it seemed like they liked it and they had lots of great questions. They understand a lot and its fun to teach them. We found some other guy, Alfredo, this week who gave us some really good compliments and how the condition of a man´s shoes says a lot about them in the sense that ours are falling apart. He told us about his lifetime search for happiness and stuff and although he lives humble he isn´t poor, he had a really good perspective on life, and we´re really hoping he reads and prays he seemed so spiritually in tune. In church we didnt have Monica and Wanda or Nilda because they were all sick or somethin but if ive told you about Monica and Wanda but they´ve been investigators forever and we ran into them in the street the other day and they told us they´ve never felt so sure about being baptized so we´re pretty excited about that. Nilda is also doing really good, we´re teaching her all of the commandments you gotta know and she understands really well and she is ready to be baptized.
This week i ate fried cow brains… it wasn´t bad, really.
Well… there´s not a whole lot more, Elder Hale and I are pretty cool, he can do imitations really good it puts mine to shame haha, his Jimmy Stewart is right on the dot its so funny. I think ive got a leg up on his Bill cosby though.
I cant believe Josh is already car hopping we usually had to wait a while to become car hop, but thats cool though. Well i gotta get goin, this letter is a lil short, this week went by way fast, i cant believe ill be 20 soon. Luis our ward mission leader said time will go by faster for me now, they wanna have a lil birthday party for us here, Elder Hale is on Sept. 3. Well love you guys, thanks for all the prayers and the lovin.

Dear Family,
How´s everyone doing today? Im doin good, sorry this is a little later than I normally send it but we had so many lil things to do and its hard with the Siesta de Santiago! But everything is good in Las Termas. We´re kinda hopin the heat starts coming so all the tourists will go home and more people will go to church. Ive heard it´ll be more than double once summer starts. Everyone tells me the heat is unbearable,. hence the siesta. Anyways, I really enjoyed yalls´ letters they were good and it was nice to hear from Josh. He asked me a whole bunch of questions about sonic and stuff I cant remember them all but just kiss up to everyone and work as hard and as fast as you can. Frankie is super funny i dont remember him ever getting mad or whatever you were sayin. One time i was running toward the door after an order and he locked it and it was like a bird goin into a glass wall it was funny.

O yeah Dad i heard about barefoot running too, my crazy friend Kyle from BYU would do that when it was snowing outside they say its better for your feet you gotta remind me to try that. Not that your old or anything like that Dad, but you should make a bucket list Ive been thinkin about writing one on a Pday or somethin, and a map of all the places with dates of your visits in countries. This week Elder Hale and I worked really hard, Elder Hale is a really cool guy, He´s pretty funny and he takes pictures of all the ugly dogs as a collection and let me tell you they are really ugly. When I get back home in a while remind me to tell yall a story about me scaring some dogs. People keep thinking we are from Germany lately ever since Argentina lost to Germany and the people around here just about hock lugies at us trying to imitate German its pretty funny.
We found a really big family of 7 people and apparently they were old investigators from long ago and they all accepted baptisimal dates so we´ll see how that goes. Nilda our golden investigator should be getting back from Buenos Aires today so I dont have anything to update about her, maybe she read the whole BoM on her trip or something we´ll see. Our other investigator Walter and his gf were tellin us that they both wanted to get married if it will bless them and im excited but they told us we didnt need to come wake them up on Sunday but then they didnt come, maybe he went to the hospital again because he almost shot the tip of his finger off the other day because he wanted to see if the bb was still in the gun and… it was. Its funny cuz a week ago we taught a lesson about choosing friends that we´ll lift us up and help us make good choices and his friend told him that the gun was empty. We found another lady who was  ready to receive the Gospel we  haven´t taught her yet but she told us just by reading the Bible she doesn´t go to church (Catholic) anymore and she had a lot of other questions and just seemed ready to receive the gospel. This next month there´s supposed to be some open chapel thing and  the church is implementing a new program with missionary work and trying to get the members involved in the work and I was just thinkin to tell Josh and Dad to go out with the missionaries as much as they can and give at least one reference every time the missionaries come by.

Also we  finally got a hold of Yesica cuz she´s been working a ton and the whole situation was really awkward idk how to explain like she almost told us she wasn´t interested anymore (after receiving her answer and all that stuff :/) and her dad came out and apparently her dad is a member who has been inactive for many years and before he would make jokes about Joseph Smith it was weird. We ended up teaching her anyways.

About the birthday package.. could yall send american stamps? reeses, rootbeer extract, and… im buying some speakers and a CD player from an Elder for cheap and if yall wanna, could you send a really cheap mp3 player ( i lost my zune snowboarding remember?) with a bunch of motab and any church music and every efy album that ever existed, but only chuch stuff, if you can that is, make sure to disguise the expensive things!  i gotta go but i love you guys and i hope all is well!
Love,
Elder Singer

PS the pics are older men playing bocci (or Bocce) ball and they´re super intense about it its hilarious :) i wanted to be in their lil circle but i didnt have the special shoes haha

Dear Family,

Well how´s everyone doin? It was another lovely week here in Las Termas. It was really cold actually and I got sick and then better this week haha, whenever it gets really cold people talk about the weather so much… the conversations with people when we go in there house are about how cold it is for like 5 minutes its funny they´re like man… its cold… its never this cold… this cold is intolerable… its so cold, and then 10 seconds later… man… its cold. One night we spent like an hour and a half looking for one contact and who knew there was a Patricia Sosa on the corner of every street of one neighborhood.

But yeah it kinda stunk we didnt have any investigators come to church yesterday and we woke up early to go wake two of them up. We woke one of em up and they asked (yelling from their bed) what time  the meetings are… 9… what time is it… 9! But yeah they said they were gonna go but no. Anyways, this week overall was pretty solid. My new comp Elder Hale is really cool and he works really hard. To practice Spanish we set a goal to only speak spanish outside the apartment and we´ve been stickin to it and thats been good its hard for 2 gringos to speak Spanish only. People always ask my comp where he´s from cuz doesnt speak so gringo. Thats somethin I think is important cuz the people have more respect for you and are more willing to listen. Its been kinda fun teaching the area to my comp and explaining all the little things you gotta know about Las Termas and all about our investigators.
Whoa, almost lost the letter, the power went out in the cyber i was in.
This week there was a return missionary here and it was kinda fun to see the excitement of all his family and friends receiving him but im not gonna lie it kinda made me miss you guys. Return missionaries are like legends here, he´s the second one in the history of the Branch of Las Termas. We had a lil Fam Night and it was fun and we played hot potato for the game and it was actually really fun. My comp was able to pull it out of the air, the just kinda looked at us and they were like, o the missionaries always have somethin like that ready. You guys should remind me of some games to play. Not hucklebucklebeanstock because that would probably be too complex, I still dont think everyone in our family understands the concept of “plain-sight.”
The other day I was in the kitchen making myself some breakfast and i heard movement inside the trash bag and it turned out we had a mouse. I almost caught him but i failed but i bought a mouse trap that day and we got him.

My comp happened to have peanut butter with him and its really rare here. It was super exciting for us haha.
One of our investigators Monica, who has been an investigator for forever, told us the other day that she felt some sort of answer which is exciting because she said she never really felt an answer before. Nilda, our super hero investigator told us the other day that whenever she was in the Principles of the Gospel class told us she felt the connection between the doctrine that was being taught and the reality and importance of the Restoration and we were just thinkin… wow… you are awesome. Ive found one of the most important things is when you teach Lesson 1 is to teach the Apostasy well to where they can see the need for a Restoration. We had Luis come with us a bunch this week and he´s seriously the coolest guy. He tells us stories about how his life used to be before he found the church and how he got in a bar fight all drunk with some guy a long time ago.
Well i gotta start wrappin up here.  Im lookin forward to the snailmail from you guys it´ll probably be like a month (around my birthday! hint hint) till i get it. Tell me about that Italian Opera the way Megan explained it to me sounded quite intriguing. Well, love you guys and hope yall are all well too. I really appreciate all the prayers, I really feel loved.

Dear Family,
Hey how´s everyone doing?? Well today was transfer day and basically i walked around and waited for missionaries n stuff in the terminal all day and i have a new comp his name is Elder Hale, he is a great missionary and i can tell we are going to be able to work a whole lot, he´s from Fresno California, and a lot of our investigators are doing really well, im really looking forward to this next transfer. He beat the best guy in the world once in Super Smash Brothers Melee, that is… awesome. Elder Michelson left to Tucuman and the picture is with my new comp and my district. Anyways, happy birthday Josh you da man, i actually wrote you a legit letter just so you know and i fully expect you to write me back. Also i got a letter from Elder Condiff from the MTC, that was a nice surprise.  So last week i looked on the paper and i saw that Elder Perez had a baptism finally and it was one of the people that we found, her name is Paola she is great, i always felt good about her whenever we taught her. In Concepcion, that was the first baptism in like 9 months i think, long time, so that was a great way for him to go out, i called him up and it was really great to talk to him and he´s getting transfered to the no mans land of Santiago and we´re going to have zone conference every 3 months now which really stinks but o well, so ill see him again in 3 months. I saw him in the terminal today and got to hang out with him for like an hour. This last week i got to go work in Santiago Capital with Elder Carrari, he´s been in the mission for 2 months i think and he´s great, he loves to work and we got a lot done together. He speaks really really fast too, his fav movie is the Lion King and we talked about the epic fight scene between Simba and Scar haha. We were knocking doors and this old guy came out and ill tell you i got a rejection that ive never heard before. It was this super old guy and he told us he just had testical surgery and couldn´t attend to us right now… it was really funny. Yesterday, this guy came to church and it turns out he´s a 70 and it was cool to talk to him. He´s from Cordova and he gave a really great talk it was like listening to conference in Spanish. He made a joke about how the people from Santiago like to sleep a lot. It looks like we´ll be teaching some piano lessons too like once a week if we can get people to invite friends and bring investigators. I really loved yalls letters this week and all the pictures. I saw the big famil picture of everyone and Gma and Gpa Singers and my first thought was man im supposed to be there… but it looks like yall are having fun, the Grand Canyon is beautiful, and i was glad to hear that the Singer Boys were able to perform there dance, that is awesome, hopefully that had a Spiritual Experience or 2 while they were there :) Make sure to send pictures from the Reunion too! And yeah Mom and Megan yall are definitely right, the letters in the mail are always more special! Well i gotta go now, I love you guys and all the letters were really great, have fun this week and im glad that yall arrived safe, I know its too late but I wanted to remind Dad and all them that bears can climb faster than they can run, just in case you dont know anything about bear attacks.

Dear Family,
Wow so im not gonna beat around the bush, but Argentina got killed by Germany, it was a pretty sad way to go out like that but the people didnt seem too ashamed just kinda sad. We tried our best to express that we feel equally sad about what had happened with the loss because we knew they´d think that we are from Germany and as soon as the game was over this guy on his motorcycle went by and said “hey they´re from Germany!”… Other than that we did have a decent amount of success this week. We went to this guy´s family who was baptized in Buenos Aires while working there and we went to his family who lives pretty far out there in like the countryside basically and we got there and they have a family of 12 kids! It was sweet and we got baptisimal dates for all of them just we got figure out a way to get them all to church, their son, o yeah his name is Mauro has a really cool conversion story and we had him share it with us and his family and it went really great. We drove by this race track that they have here that was pretty sweet. Also we found another lady who had received the missionaries a couple of times before and wasnt so sure and dropped them and after teaching her twice she told us that she feels like this is the right thing for her. She´s been having medical problems with her daughter and she kinda broke down the last time we taught her and told us that she feels that its true and she came to church yesterday! Speaking of which, my comp and I have had a goal to get 100 people to church, normally we´ve been around 50 to 60 and yesterday we had about 80! We have an investigator named Walter and we went to his house and woke him up to go to church and he came and the testimony meeting was great. He had been having problems and his wife and his 2 kids just left him and this guy who´s a return missionary in our Branch named Yermo got up and said exactly what Walter needed to hear and it was awesome. We got to do a lot of work with our ward mission leader, Luis, on saturday and we have a guy who was recently baptized and he almost has no food for his family and we´re working on getting food together for him. Yesterday at church, Luis gave me a kiss on the cheek, its cool though, we´re in Argentina. Idk if i told yall but the men and women greet each other that way all of the time and some times we dont see it coming and they´re not members and they´ll just walk up to you and kiss you its awkward. This morning my comp found a mouse in his suitcase it was super funny, we took the suitcase outside and the dude from across the street ran out and just started smashing it with a broom and killed it. Pday was somewhat of an adventure, as you can see from pictures, we went to the dam.  It was really fun and you´ll notice i have a cool fake jersy that i bought. I also bought a mate cup and its made from a cow. Only about 10 missionaries were there though but it was fun and this lady kept pushin us to go eat at her place so they did and they had like a dude playin on the accordian and gave us a shout out as the amigos from the US. He asked us where we were from and I said we´re all from Texas. Then one Elder said he was from Germany and they all gave him a bad look it was funny. They have like these outdoor markets all over the place and this girl asked me when i was gonna buy her it was weird i just said uh… i already bought stuff.. and walked away. They call girls like that snakes in the mission. Well as you can see i had a fun filled week and i hope all his well with you all. Take some pictures of the Grand Canyon for me,  I hope ill be able to see the video of Josh and his dance. Grandma Fran wrote be by the way! Tell her thank you and I love her! And Grandma Singer can write me via email she wrote me a while ago on dearelder. O btw, i have a friend goin to Riverside, he might already be there but his name is Hauron Jihang and he´s speaking Chinese there and maybe Bryant will meet him one day. We were really good friends at the Y. Well i gotta go now and I love you guys, thanks for all the love and support :)

Argentina vs Germany this week.. oooo

Written by admin on July 4th, 2010

Dear Family,

Well this week was pretty good, kinda crazy too, there have been like 3 murders in Las Termas more recently. In one of the cases, one of the accomplaces is a member of a family of less actives but he isnt a member. We went over and tried to help em out but it was sad because the parents seemed kinda hopeless. We taught a whole bunch this week and I did have a really cool experience. Its an investigator and her name is Yesica, (pronounced Jessica) and when we walked in, she pulled out her Book of Mormon to the last page where we write the steps to the prayer for people we give BoMs to. She pointed to it and said “I did this!” and we were like… and?!… what did you feel?? and she said “I felt really really good… I think its true!” It was way awesome! We had another really good lesson about temple marriage and baptism with another one of our investigators. One of the biggest problems we have in our mission is that hardly anyone is married but getting them married shouldnt be too hard. On sunday, we had a lot of people at church. One of the counselors from the stake presidency came and gave a talk about missionary work and we´re working on getting everyone super involved in missionary work. We´re making this thing where everyone prays at the same hour of the night as families for opportunities to share the gospel and for the missionaries in the area.
This week was zone conference, it was pretty good. We talked a lot about the second coming and how Christ´s coming to the Americas is a type of the second coming, a lil bit of dropping the cane on obedience and the power and blessings of integrity.  Hermana Northcutt was sick though, she got up for like 10 seconds and then she left the conference. She was sick in bed for like a month before. We have the whole mission praying for her.
Also I finished the Book of Mormon this week and I got an answer! its still true.
Argentina won yesterday and everyone was going crazy and we had ward council right after and all the members were talking about it. They´re pretty convinced that they are gonna win the world cup and our ward mission leader told me he´s probably gonna cry if they lose. If they win they´re saying that no one is going to work for 2 days. When we were in the street, we could keep score by the screaming and yelling of people inside their houses.
I really like yall´s letters this week by the way. Anna, you told me about a certain family who tells you what your beliefs are. They teach them that in their churches but its pretty clear to me that a church is not of Jesus Christ if it tells them to avoid/hate the Mormons. Its pretty evident here, i knocked a door the other day and as soon as i said Jesucristo, the lady waved her finger in my face and slammed the door…are you sensing any irony? Others wont look us in the eyes cuz they think we´ll like put em in a trance idk but something my comp was telling me is that the people that REALLY want to find the truth, they will find it, and its found in His church, the church that you are a member of. But its not really worth arguing with em but you can invite them to search for the truth. Our president explained the best way to do it, invite them to do it, promise blessings, testify, and say will you do that? My comp showed me this scripture yesterday, Prove all things, and hold fast that which is good. Thes. 5:21, in spanish it basically says, examine everything and find/keep the good stuff. If people did it, they would find it. Ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you. If you do wanna bible bash a lil bit, just ask em the formation of Church of Jesus Christ in ancient times, ask them how their church was formed and what it consists of and then ask em, now why isnt that the same? Then you can bear your testimony and explain how it was formed and what it consists of. It was restored by divine authority, it has the divine authority, with a prophet who receives revelation and whatever else you feel directed to say. I really liked all of everyones letters by the way,  Anyways, I gotta go, I love you guys and thanks for all your prayers and letters. Hope my letter made sense, im trying to organize them better haha, o and how come i always get the updates to tasha´s blog? i never get the ones to mine though… o well, bye!
Love,
