Hey everyone!
Well i arrived in Argentina on a rather couple of flights but hey i arrived! man it is so different here right now im in the back corner of this computer place and there is like spanish writing all over the place. i´d say the place im serving in is definitely 3rd world. o yeah mom this made me laugh, when you said i had a gringo comp, gringo means they´re white haha im a gringo my comp he’s from chile but luckily he speaks some english. but yeah anyways so to start off i had been wearing the same clothes that i put on when i left the mtc until friday cuz the luggage with my stuff was forgotten in who knows where and yeah that was lovely. ive kinda stopped caring about some of the stuff i used to care about hygene wise, you gotta adapt. for instance, for napkins at this one members house we all just wipe our mouths or hands on the table cloth. o yeah and at these peoples house they have 2 g. pigs (along with like 20 dogs) and the dad loves them and kisses them he´s super funny and one of my fav members!  sorry everyone im not sure where to start so much has happened! but yeah its weird cuz no one speaks english but we try to visit a couple of less actives every day and a couple of the dads have said like 2 english words and they think they´re so cool its so funny. anyways, i took 5 airplanes and 2 buses to get to my area and its really cool here. definitley 3rd world. these people are so humble and the members are so funny and have good attitudes. every time i tell em im from houston they say like the rocket ships! its so hard to understand em here too, but i get a little bit better every day. and they dont speak spanish according to them they speak castellano (casteshano) and they are very proud of that. nobody likes the people from bunenos aires outside of the city they have all kinds of names for em like porteños. but yeah my city is called concepción and its pretty darn poor. for a lot of the houses we´ve been to, just about when you walk in the front door, you walk in the back door. the members say really funny stuff to me also, they always have goofy questions to ask like this kid asked me about hollywood but it sounded like julilo. another sister called me clark kent. one of the guys in the ward asked if i was gonna take an argentine woman back home with me haha i said no. and they´re really open about stuff, like in my fam picture apparently i look fatter and so the sister we were eating with like got up and got a good side look of me! they really like to joke though and pretty much all day people laugh cuz i say wrong things (but they say if you dont look like an idiot then your not tryin hard enough) or sound funny. sometimes they´ll think im completely clueless though like this one kid was pointing at me and laughing “he doesn´t understand!” and it was actually pretty funny. also argentines have one big meal a day and we talk for forever about who knows what. i can tell when they´re talkin about me. after they have like a 2 to 3 ish hour nap time called the ciesta and it is heavily practiced in my city so thats when we go study. its hard to understand cuz they leave out all of their s´s and shush a lot of stuff. there are dogs EVERYWHERE, there are like at least 3 dogs in everyones house and then they´re all over the street and some of em have like giant who knows what growing on them its pretty sick. but yeah its actually really fun.  anyways, sorry there´s so much to tell but so little time, but yeah spiritual stuff, like the second people i talked to were 2 plumbers and the said they would like us to come by! it was funny cuz i asked em where they worked and i said ok bueno like i knew what he was talkin about and he then asked how to say that in english and i said idk and then they started makin fun of me it was really funny. another lady said she believed in Jesus but she didnt believe right now it was funny. we´ve actually taught the first lesson a couple of times and its been a special experience like we´ve found a couple of guys who just let us in and they seem real interested, but we´ll see, we´re gonna go back to one of em today. its hard to get people to go to church though cuz argentine people in general just like to relax, like our city has enough people for 2 wards but we only have 1 branch with about 30 to 40 people every week. o yeah this was super funny. some crazy old guy talked to me at church for like 5 min and i have no idea what he was sayin so i just nod and smile. he´s had the first lesson taught to him 3 times and doesnt retain any of it but he says he wants to be baptized. my comp said he comes every week for the last month and has no idea whats goin on but just asked the missionaries where church was and now he just shows up. next week im introducing my self in church and im really excited. they really like having the missionaries over and its hard cuz a lot of em just wanna talk about stuff. dad that sounded like a real special experience with that guy on the plane. thats way cool. o yeah and about packaging and what not, im not sure what we´re gonna do about my camera charger but im gonna need it eventually… ive been writing in my journal every day so hopefully you´ll get to hear all of my fun stories.  and dont have a whole lotta time left and sorry my letters are probably so confusing i forgot to write an outline but yeah overall i love the mission and love the 3rd world country life and its so fun to serve these people who have so little. i loved talkin to yall on monday and i hope all is well ill be prayin for you!

Hey family!! How’s everyone doing?? im doin real good n stuff i got the letters from the kids today and that was real nice! im gonna reply to y’alls letters tonight handwritten and im gonna send my P. blessing with that stuff. i have a copy just i gotta send the original home. ok so the reason everyone is gettin different emails is cuz myldsmail like teamed up with gmail so it looks way similar. you’ll notice they allowed me to get onto my gmail for like all of 5 seconds if you get on it. alright im gonna just start answerin questions. ok i have the calender. the contacts work well, im not sure which eye is which so i just kinda guessed. could you tell me? idk my eye prescription and i prob have that paper i just cant find it. i can print pics here so dont worry about that just send me back my SD card and we’re cool. the frame thingy? i prob have no room but idk for sure. o thank you so much for the package everyone! i loved all the stuff and ive already eaten all the girlscout cookies which were delicious. o im not sure why my sd card was hangin out cuz i wrapped that letter in tape. who knows. mom did some lady call you from the mtc? they called me in to tell me i ordered contacts and i was just like uh… my mom did?? it was weird, once again, who knows. It sounds like Tasha is doin great, im jealous she gets to work with real investigators, my fake one’s baptism was last saturday! and we committed him to marrying the woman he was living with the day before. it was way fun. mom dont worry about a backpack, i actually bought one today for like 30 bucks wasn’t bad cuz its pretty nice. funny story i left an apple in my other backpack for 3 weeks and i got rotten apple juice on it and there’s a lil mold? could i just cut it out or should i toss it? OHHHHH!! i got my travel plans!!! its startin to feel like im really on a mission now cuz the field is so close! i cant wait! ok so i have a layover in dallas (dont try to come see me) from 12 to 215 and then one in miami from 550 to 9. this is on the 8th of march! ill arrive in buenos aires at 8 am the next morning! im so pumped to go! Oh yeah! my teacher in our interview committed me to speaking only spanish for the rest of my time here and its been tough but im learning a whole lot! im not sure why but everything is funnier in spanish! but i do get a lil english in here and there especially for the people who dont know any spanish. everyone thinks im somethin other than white its funny. o yeah dad what did you and mac talk about so much??  i was talkin to these Elders and i asked them if they had seen the rap and i told them who i was in it and they (from their memory) recognized me from it, it was funny. did i say just fix the spacing on tasha’s letters just so they dont come as 3 dear elders?? thanks for the shirts too but i think i may have to send one or 2 home and maybe some other stuff, making the 50 lbs each back is gonna be tough.  o yeah thanks for the church news’ n stuff, it was very thoughtful… but i need the one w/ pres studdert. seriously he is the man. he was on the committee w/ 3 other apostles and a couple of other people i believe bro bott and in the writing the white handbook and PMG. but yeah he was all involved in haiti if you dont wanna send it to me just save it. the thing you put our address on??… are we moving? anyways i cant believe im about to leave the MTC, its an interesting sensation because you feel that you just got here when at the same time you’ve been here for FOREVER. which i have. ive started reading the BOM in Spanish so thats cool. Can you guys give me a lil politics update? I heard somethin about al gore gettin sued and my heart kinda skipped a beat haha. i heard 2 people died in Salta from the earthquake in Chile 8.8! thats insane. Here’s my spiritually comment for you guys, ok first study what Psalms 126:5 means… i think thats it. and a guy in our branch presidency said somethin real profound somethin like when you take the first step on the wrong path be prepared to face the last step w/ the consequence on the path you chose to take. It was really good but im runnin short of time but i love and miss you guys and ill call you soon!!

love,

hey everyone! ok this last hour has been pretty stressful and all i just received all of ya’lls stuff like 30 min ago and I’m looking at my journal the last week and 10 plus papers of dear elder… so yeah. Anyways it sounds like everyone is doing well and that no one was actually on Josh’s face. What a relief. I thought that was super funny though! o yeah while im remembering it, save the church news from feb 20th. the guy in there Brother Studdert that they quote and have pictures of is so awesome. That guy is my branch pres the one that ive been tellin you bout haiti n stuff its insane. Will yall save that for me? thanks. and im pretty sure the guy who’s in the picture on the right page is doin the jerk haha. So me and clark have been talkin a lot its great to see him. o and just for anyone who decides to email or send anything to my email. Please do it via dear elder for the sake of the blinking red timer in the corner of my screen. Josh it sounds like everything is well. Keep gettin swoll but you still got a lot of catchin up to do. I was impressed when you told me how much you were lifting. O and i was thinkin make sure you get a sufficient amnt of sleep cuz it really affects how easily/quickly you can build muscle trust me. Dear elder me again this week before thurs and ill write you back this monday. Megan it sounds like your doin great! congrats on your first scripture mastery! thats more than i ever did! jk, i did more i promise… but yeah it sounds like bro evans is a sweet teacher. o yeah dad thanks for the church lessons n stuff. i was actually reading about the abrahamic cov and the law of moses the other day. i decided after i learn spanish and i have more time to read im gonna read the bible dictionary along with the standard works. its actually really interesting. Mom i got the brownies thanks :) Did you send the glasses yet? im lookin forward to it. could you tell gma and gpa how to use dear elder if they dont know how cuz they emailed me but i dont really have time to reply.  I heard about that austrailian lds snowboard chick and what she said about being modest or whatever. thats pretty awesome. are yall not supposed to give me a political update? cuz i sure could use one. yeah dad i laughed pretty hard at your valentine it was way funny. o and yeah dad ive been studyin 2 ne 2 cuz we’re teaching POS (Plan of Salvation) in spanish this weekend its some good stuff but ive been studyin 2 ne 4 w/ nephi’s lament and how he puts his trust in the Lord and then D n C 121. good stuff. Also ive been inspired to carry around a lil notebook with spiritual impressions. you guys should try it, its a good way to chart your spiritual progress and helps you recall things that you need to know. also i carry another lil notebook where i write down spanish words i learn. i pack em in there so it looks like another language. but im realizing how important writing stuff down is. remember an unwritten goal is just a wish. o yeah dad im almost done with Our Search for Happiness because its apart of the assigned reading list and i can only read Believing Christ in my room cuz its not on the reading list. whatever. im about halfway w/ that one too. Sounds like Tasha is doin great too! i wish i had more time. When you guys forward stuff of hers to me and you spread the type out so i dont get it in like 3 letters? thanks. sorry this letter feels lame but today has been really insane.  o yeah i laughed really hard when i found out that tasha fell down the stairs i just couldn’t help it. hopefully yall got my pics and the shot refund thingy by now. but im outta time.

love you guys and thank you so much for all the support

Hey Everyone!

Hey Everyone!
How are yall doin? I miss you guys a ton! I’m sure hope everything is going well! I wont be able to say a whole ton about my dear elder today cuz i have to read it during my 30 min time limit cuz its pres day and the mailroom is closed. o well. anyways, the mtc is great! we taught in spanish for our trc appoinment for the first time and it was really cool. i was amazed at how much i could say! i was teaching and explaining and answering questions in spanish! it was such a cool experience! I knew i wasn’t doing it alone. o yeah josh i wrote you a letter so you can be expecting it soon. thank you guys so much for the v-day stuff! that was way awesome! i loved all of the hearts and stuff on em. nice one dad. thats all im gonna say haha. but yeah thanks for all the candy n stuff im gonna have to share cuz its so much! dad i heard they took “come thou fount” out of the hymnal because people would sing it too much. seriously. we had some down time and we figured out how to say: “hola, mi nombre es inigo montoya. te mataste mi padre: prepara morir” i think thats mostly right but our teacher said its a lil off but we thought it was funny. Can yall give me derek’s address? he wrote me like 2 months ago but he was leavin in like 2 days so i couldnt write him back. could yall tell his parents to tell him i wanna write him back? thanks. o yeah so holy cow. My branch pres and his counselor took that team i told you about 3 weeks ago to haiti and he’s back and he said the people there are suffering really bad and its just terrible over there. he said he saw some unspeakable things. Bro worthington the counselor is a contracter and he went to determine which buildings were still stable and he said that the earthquake wasn’t that bad just everything is poorly constructed there and they dont use rebar they use just steel poles and when they’re moved it just slides right out of the concrete, = disaster. That instantly made me think of heleman 5:12 and how important it is that we build a sure foundation. We are all pretty much in tears the whole sacrament meeting and after i felt guilty for having 3 square meals a day and a bed to sleep on. I dont have time to tell all the stories they told but they were pretty incredible… After Pres Studdert said “i dont wanna hear any complaints cuz all of yours are stupid. Your worst day ever is better than their best day ever.” It was kinda funny but at the same time i’d say the adivce was taken well. I wish i could go help those people but they cant use just any hands. they have nothing no infastructure and they’re starting from the ground up. Anyways im not sure why i didnt get a weekly email from dad to see whats goin on but it was nice to see that josh and mom wrote me. can yall send me tasha’s letter via dear elder? i dont have time to read all that… o yeah so from other sources it seems to me that yall arent weeding out as much as i thought yall would like my dimensions and such… o well. dad really random churchy people could be reading this and think im some nut case of a missionary. that might be funny though. o yeah speaking of my dimensions, mom im just talkin bout regular pday shirts i need regular ol saturday shirts or something its all good. o yeah thanks for the stomach stuff haha its been mas o menus mostly up until like 2 days ago… o yeah back to the haiti people stuff i was gonna encourage yall to find a way to donate or something they need all they can get. im doin way good btw with not getting discouraged and workin hard. this last week has been pretty sweet. Ive started reading Believing Chirst and Our Search for Happiness. Both very very good. i recommend them to anyone and everyone. to answer your question about layover and calls im sure ill have plenty of time to call durin layovers and what not. like so much time, i talked to a missionary thats goin to argentina tomorrow and he has like 30-40 hours worth of travel time its insane. O yeah josh did i say anything about how insane your wrestling stuff was? holy cow. it sounds crazy over there. im gonna be honest im glad im not there at the moment thats just absolutely ridiculous. Sorry bout the parking stuff. that sucks man. you got one more year left though. O and you’ll love byu efy. BYU is the bomb i love it. how’s fam/personal scrip study comin along btw? and mom its ok if dad takes time to explain stuff i read this thing about bruce r. mckonckie (however you spell it) and thats what he did. did you know he rewrote the BOM in his own words verse by verse and cross referenced every verse??? thats pretty incredible if you ask me, talk about desire. Mom and Dad were yall there (listening) to his final testimony right before he died? just wonderin. Ill send you guys my SD card soon ive taken a bunch and ordered some prints via book store. How are the olympics btw? Go USA. Speaking of international type stuff we met with the Argentine consul. I answered one of his questions and i was able to say the answer with a good accent and he asked where im from. im pretty sure he thinks im some sorta native or somethin. the tongan elders hear ask me if i have tongan in me its funny it makes me feel cool. Josh every time i wear my the tie you gave me i get a compliment. literally everytime no joke. i said the prayer last night at the fireside it was so scary. the big ugly security guard came up to me and said ” have you ever prayed in front of 2000 people before?” (i said no) he said “just close your eyes its not so bad” it was funny. but yeah im about outta time. i love you guys and miss you. thank you for all your love, support, and prayers. I always feel like i need to tell yall somethin else but im workin hard and i love what im doin!

Dear Family,

Sounds like everyone is doing good. Don’t worry about rushing the contacts, I’ve just been wearing my glasses cuz my contacts dry out so easy here but I’m looking forward to getting my new glasses. My shirts, I’ve been lifting a lot so I’m getting big, as in swoll, not fat, don’t worry. My shirts don’t fit as well and I’m probably shrinking them in the laundry, but I believe I’m doing it right…? The shoes were hurting read bad, but one of the guys who was in the district was heading out gave me his slippers and so I shoved them inside my shoes and now my shoes fit. The boots fit too.

Mom, I was thinking about your lesson about families and I guess I could just tell you something significant I’ve learned how important it is to love like Christ loves us. Thomas S. Monson said in one of the Mormon messages, don’t make a problem to be solved more important than a person to be loved. Also with my comp, I’ve really tried to apply the Christlike attributes and I’m looking for ways to serve him. When you are service minded and you learn to love everyone you come in contact with, things just seem to fall into place because the Lord is blessing you for your efforts. Another good quote is to make an effort to be Christlike so much that people who don’t even know Christ want to get to know him just because of your example and your love for him. Just another spiritual side note, the scriptures I’ve really enjoyed and tried to study and apply are D&C 6:39 and 34:34. They’re way good. Read em. The stuff I was saying has really helped our companionship. The last two days I’ve made his bed and he didn’t even realize it and this morning he said, “ I don’t remember making my bed…did you?” I just shrugged my shoulders and kept reading. It was funny. Something way awesome about doing service without the person knowing is that the only person that the can thanks is God. That’s what makes anonymous service so special is that you don’t take any credit and you let God take it all. Pretty cool huh? When you truly forget yourself and serve others the day goes by so much easier so I think you could apply that somehow to families.:)

Dad, I think it is so funny that you said something about Groundhog Day cuz Elder Hinckley talked to us at a devo about how to make your mission so its NOT like Groundhog Day. He gave us 6 points on how to do that but I don’t have time to get them, it’s in my notes but basically lose yourself, be obedient, have fun while being obedient etc. It was very good. He is a lot like his father. I’ve been reading The Greatest Salesman. It says it is so important that we create good habits and productive habits and become a slave to those good habits.

I really like the letter from Megan! Have her email me via dearelder also so I can read it beforehand. I always write an outline beforehand but it sounds like she’s doing great with swimming and tell her not to worry about solo and ensemble.

I was thinking since people ask you questions all the time I would challenge our family to study the lessons in Chapter 3 of Preach My Gospel. I wish I knew it as well as I do now. Back in high school, I could have explained stuff so much more effectively. It’s really the gospel in a perfect nutshell. PMG is awesome BTW. I really want to finish Believing Christ. I’ve just been studying so much I feel like I want to just sit down and read all the standard works!

I was just gonna say at the MTC we can set up appointments to have a progressing investigator at the Teaching Evaluation Center and it’s all role play (we say real play) and we’ve almost got this guy committed to baptism! I can’t wait to do this for real in the field It’s gonna be great! The MTC is way awesome though. The guys in my district are all awesome and we’re all bonding. We have a lot of fun. I’ll have to send some pictures sometime with my memory card.

BTW, we go to the Provo temple and a session every pday morning. The Provo temple is pretty big and way pretty. Every Sunday after Sac meeting we go walk around the temple too and take cool pics to put on FB in two years. Speaking of Sac meeting, I bore my testimony in espanol and I tried to say everything I knew and I said more than I thought I could…. Spanish is coming along pretty well.

Hey everyone!

I have a whole bunch of stuff to say anda ton of stuff to reply too so sorry if I don’t go into a whole lot of details. If you guys could email me via dear elder on Fridays because I receive the letters from you the following day. When you send them on Sunday I get them about 4ish when I have 2 hours left of pday so I don’t have a lot of time to think about what to reply cuz I always make an outline.I’ll just address randomly everything I think I need too.
Mom, could you send me some more shirts? I think I’m shrinking them and I’m getting bigger, honestly, not fatter though. BTW Dad the food is alright, it’s pretty much the leftovers from the Cannon Center. I’m trying to eat healthy and I’m staying pretty fit. Are my new glasses/contacts in? If you could send those to me that would be great. Sorry for all the o yeahs. Tasha told me haha. My slip on no lace shoes hurt really bad so I never wear them. Should I keep trying to break them in or do you think I can still do something with missionary mall. Mom, thanks so much for writing all those addresses in my book. I didn’t realize that you did that until I finally cracked it open. I’m thinking about printing and sending yall some pics, is it okay to send SD cards via mail? I can if you want me to.
I see Clark and Cambria pretty much every day. That’s pretty cool. I talked with both of them for a good amount of time. Sunday nights are church video night after the fireside. I sat next to Clark and we pretty much talked the whole time.
The language is coming well. Don’t worry Dad. I’ve started doing the John Groberg thing w/my 2 BOM’s side by side and if I don’t know a word I write it down in a little notebook I carry around with me. I also carry around a little notebook and I write down answers to prayers or powerful inspiration that strikes me deeply. I keep thinking about Joseph Smith when he said “I knew it and I knew that God knew it.: I love that it’s so powerful.
That cracked me up about Josh and the Court of Honor. How’d Megan do at solo and ensemble? Sounds like Anna is doing well in basketball, tell her what Michael Jordan did at first and what he changed when we started winning championships. Kiss the Celica good-bye for me will you? I hear Josh is getting his license soon….
I have been writing in my journal everyday since I got here. Sometimes I have a hard time figuring out what to write cuz sometimes the days feel the same. I finished the Greatest Salesman book. I read it 3 times a day. I think you know what I mean by that. IDK if Tasha told yall but I read the BOM everyday til you feel the spirit and just a little bit longer, family and personal that’s the minimum.
I saw Brother Bott yesterday and he remembered me! Dad, don’t worry I’m working hard and I’m not distracted, time is of the essence, it’s the Lord’s time and I try to use every bit of it.
I have heard about the Heap kid from Washington. One of my friends knows him and his family. He may not go on a mission cuz he’s “NFL material.” I’ll look out for Mike Barrow when he comes. I’m most likely going to see him.
Overall, it’s been good. We got to practice contacting with a new district that got here and I played a drunk Mexican guy in the park. It was fun. We’re teaching each other all the time, it’s cool. You may delete whatever you feel you need to but I’m almost out of time. I’ve been carrying my camera around with me so I’m getting lots of pics. Missionary scripture:Alma 29:9-10…well I gotta go. Love you guys and thanks for your support. I miss you all!

letter numero tres

Written by admin on January 28th, 2010
Hey everyone!
Sorry my mind is kinda goin crazy right now and i just received the letters
from mom and dad via mail like 10 min before im writing this so im tryin to
think of what to say! But yeah the MTC is great. I heard about what happened
in Haiti… pretty sad, my heart goes out to Phaya im sure he had a lot of
family affected by the earthquake. Part of the reason im mentioning this is
that my branch Pres. and one of his counselor is flying out there with 150
men each to start some sorta hospital, im not exactly sure what but its
through the church obviously and they’re gonna take 150 orphans back to SLC
on the plane they came on. The church’s humanitarian system is pretty
incredible. Anyways, it sounds like everyone is doin good and ill try to
mention somethin for everyone. Sorry bout wrestling Josh that sucks man but
hey you got one season left, i guess its just time to kick it up a notch. I
think you have a whole lotta potential to do some great things its just hard
to see it in yourself where you’re at right now but what i hear from dad is
that yall are gonna start goin pretty hardcore. And if you wanna live up to
your word that you think your gonna kick my butt when i get home you better
REALLY get to work cuz ive been eatin healthy and gettin real swoll. This
kid in my district who has the Abripperx workout written down and I have
been doin that every other day, Tony says not to do it everyday so… yeah.
O yeah thats so tight bro evans is yall’s seminary teacher! yall are lucky
seriously he is the man. Megan sounds like things are goin great! Im really
happy for you and thats way cool they’re havin efy so close to you at SHSU!
Amazing how things change on your mission… Anna sounds like stuff is goin
good for you too! I told Amy in my Richardson reply letter sometimes you
gotta play injured. You’ll be ok its just 1 finger you have 9 others :) But
thanks you 3 for the letters that made me really happy when i received them.
Thanks guys :) Man its too bad the Vikings lost :/ I really wanted AP and
favre to get a superbowl. Send secret weapon and family my regards. I hope
yall got my letter to clark btw and that he gets it before i see him. and i
think mom asked if i see him and im pretty sure ill prob see him all the
time cuz we’ll prob be in the same building. For our TRC appt this week we
had to contact the people and talk about families and testify in Spanish of
how important families are. Every week we have to write a talk in spanish
and yesterday i was amazed at how much i already knew that was really cool.
o yeah sound’s like 3100 is gonna make it big… haha. sounds like yall are
gonna do lots of fun stuff this summer, careful on that hike thats a whole
lotta nuckleheads in the wilderness stuck in one place. And im not sure im gonna
wake up that early, ill try, we’re gonna try to have me give her a blessing
tonight before she goes so that’ll be pretty sweet. o yeah i forgot to
mention it last week but congrats on that eagle, sounds way exciting,
there’s a kid who played golf like everyday in highschool in my district and
he told me his best score was a 66… yeah holy cow. but i dont wanna take away from your glory thats still way cool.
sounds like dubai was sweet and you’re quite the photographer. And yeah pretty much pday is just
running errands all day so yeah i dont usually write yall til later in the
day when i have time. and we haven’t quite developed scooby doo but i told
em about it. this elder said if you look at attractive sister missionaries
something bad will happen. one got hit in the head with a bball and i spilled
some juice on my shirt… i still think its a coincidence. Mom it sounds
like your doin great! your such a great mom, im really blessed :) im glad to
hear that your starting to understand the rules of wrestling better! Im glad
this hasn’t been hard for you and maybe yall can film a time when your
getting all giddy again and you can send it to me! Well my time is just
about up and im about to go take pics at the map w/ tasha. thank you so much
for all that yall do for me and all the love and support. o yeah and thanks
mom for the cin rolls and the skittles. o yeah dad we had some down time cuz
we were fasting and we watched the zions camp vid and we all quote the
“ever… las… one-a-ya!!” its pretty funny :) but i gotta go now!!

Hey everyone!

I received the Dear Elder emails today via computer rather than through the mail. I don’t’ have a lot of time cuz I just read y’all emails real quick. Dad I really appreciate the Cosby thing, I’ve actually been quoting just about everything I can remember along with all the other guys in my district who quote stuff too. There’s a guy in my zone who loves the Cardinals and we’ve been having football (smack) talk a couple times. My district is pretty awesome along with people in my zone. My comp’s name is Elder Benjamin Johnson from New Jersey. I’ll have to send y’all some pictures sometime cuz we can print them off here. I can’t remember if I told you but my Branch Pres is cool. I like him a lot and apparently he’s also best buds with my mission pres in Salta. BTW I’m sending ya’ll a letter that I want ya’ll to give/send to Clark. idk his address so that’d be cool. I’ve been praying a lot and working hard. The MTC is sweet. We had our first TRC appointment and we had to contact in Spanish. We thought we were scheduled an hour later and when we walked into the room we had no idea what we were saying. The guy said he was from cali en espanol and I was like “uhhhh….es moi bonito?” It was pretty funny, but the contact was pretty rough to say the least but at least we got to teach in English and we did with a sincere heart with real intent. It’s been hard for me and my comp to teach as one but we’re getting better at it. We had our first comp inventory and that was kinda scary but I think it went well. Both my teachers are really cool, their names are Hermano Servinson and Hermano Young. Hermano Young looks like Edward Cullen, but shorter. I asked him about it and he said everyone says that and they convinced him to be him for Halloween. He served in Houston Spanish speaking. Hermano Servinson is cool too, he served in Guatemala. We went to the temple this morning and that was cool The Provo Temple is really pretty. I still see Tasha all the time, we figured out what each others class rooms are so I see her pretty much every day and pass notes and stuff and I sat next to her while we watched “Legacy” last night which was awesome. Sunday night is movie night. Last week we saw the Joseph Smith movie, it was really touching. I hope all you guys are doing well. Sounds like Anna and Josh are doing well in their respective sports? How’s Megan doing btw? Y’all should write me letters! Keep up the good work and don’t give up. One of the main things I’ve really tried to apply is that don’t look at adversities as setbacks, but as an opportunity to learn and grow. My time is about up and I’m excited to hear from ya’ll again! :)

First week in the MTC!!

Written by admin on January 15th, 2010

Hola Familia!!

Hey everybody i miss you a lot but i love it at the MTC! btw mom i got your email and im glad you made it back safely!!i hope you enjoy the video of you losing your mind :) the first day was pretty discouraging because its like dad said, drinking out of a waterhose… Anyways I prayed a lot and Im feeling a lot more confident now about everything. You really gotta decide whether you’re gonna love it or hate it and bust your butt. Its awesome because we feel the spirit all the time because we me and my companion have been trying really hard to be obedient and always be learning something new whether it be spanish or the gospel. Speaking of which I am a Spanish genius. Jk but josh will get that. Ive actually gotten to see Tasha a lot, almost every day as a matter of fact. I bore my testimony to her in Spanish yesterday when i ran into her on the temple grounds. That was really cool. My and my companero have made it a goal to bear our testimony in spanish five times a day and ive been successful everyday! Today I bore it to a spanish native and she said my spanish is honestly mui bueno!! We’ve been setting a lot of goals short and long term and doing our best to accomplish them and it feels great. I can also already pray and i have the baptisimal prayer memorized in spanish along with a bunch of other random phrases. The MTC is so cool cuz you can schedule a time at this place called the TEC (teacher evaulation center) and your given a teacher who has a profile and you have to teach your lesson to adjust to their needs. Pretty much why PMG is used instead of the discussions. We already taught our first lesson and the teacher gave us some really good compliments but we also learned a bunch that we have been trying to apply. Also me and my companero have been trying really hard to SYL (speak your language) and we say hi to pretty much everyone. Im not gonna lie it was a lil annoying at first but im starting to enjoy it.  Also a big focus at the MTC is to have love unfeigned (D&C 121 cant remember the verse…) for one another. It can really make the difference when you pray to love those around you and your companion. Thats something ive been trying really hard to do cuz we all have our differences. Also once we realize as missionaries that there is no greater calling than to serve the Lord and apply our purpose as missionaries, its so much easier to do the work of the Lord.  Also my branch president is pretty much the coolest guy ever. He’s truly a man of the gospel he just knows what to say and when to say it like in my interview we had a really awesome converstation and he gave me one of the best compliments i have ever been given. He has the coolest stories ever like he’s buds with a couple of prophets and was the advisor to 3 presidents of the US. O yeah and i prayed in spanglish in priesthood meeting i was so nervous. Also we prepare talks every single week and they pick and random person in the zone to speak once we get to sacrament. It has to be as much as you can in spanish. I really love my district and my teachers and everything about this place. I miss and love you guys but i know this is where i am supposed to be.

Love,
